Spiced Apple-Banana-Cinnamon Smoothie

Healthy smoothies can help individuals with diabetic concerns. Certain ingredients that have been designated as having a low-glycemic index rating can be used in a smoothie and not cause blood sugar levels to spike. These ingredients also contain beneficial nutrients including fiber, calcium, potassium, magnesium, and vitamins A, C, and E.

This smoothie combines the sweetness of fresh fruit with distinct spicy flavors from cinnamon and cayenne pepper.


  • 1 sweet potato
  • 1 whole celery stick
  • 1 apple
  • 1 banana
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 lemon with skin
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder

Russian Spring Smoothie

The Russian Spring Smoothie helps to cleanse the system using a healthy dose of beets, which naturally detox the body. Additionally, the smoothie will help with low energy, low blood pressure, and inflammation with digestion and stomach issues. 


  • 3 large peeled beets
  • 4 inches turmeric root (or 1 tsp. turmeric powder)
  • 4 inches ginger root (or 1 tsp. ginger powder)
  • 2 large peeled lemons
  • 1 cucumber
  • 4 stalks celery
  • 3 apples of your choice
  • 1 medium sized bunch of dill

Very Berry Mint Smoothie

For a healthy and easy breakfast that’s sure to keep off the holiday weight, try a Greek yogurt and mixed berry shake with a little sprinkling of mint for flavor. This smoothie is packed with vitamins, nutrients and a fresh taste. It is rich in antioxidants and can help with the health of your hair, nails and skin.


  • 10 ounces frozen strawberries
  • 10 ounces frozen blueberries
  • 10 ounces frozen raspberries
  • 10 ounces frozen blackberries
  • 16 ounce 100% raw coconut water
  • 1 (35 ounce) 0% Greek yogurt
  • 1 bunch mint leaves, chopped
  • 4 cups water (as needed)

Papaya Ginger Lemon Smoothie

The combination of papaya and ginger helps with upset stomachs and improves digestion. Papaya contain an enzyme called papain, which is noted for its facilitation of digestion and for accelerating metabolism. Ginger is also known for its abilities to relieve nausea and vomiting.  


  • 2 1/2 cups papaya (Solo or Mexican) chunks
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • 2/3 cup nonfat plain yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped and peeled fresh ginger
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • Juice of 2 lemons
  • 16 fresh mint leaves, plus 4 sprigs for garnish



1. Refrigerate papaya until very cold, at least 1 hour or overnight.
2. Blend papaya, ice, yogurt, ginger, honey and lemon juice in a blender. Add up to 1/4 cup water, 1 tablespoon at a time, until mixture is smooth and thinned to desired consistency. Blend in mint leaves. Garnish with mint sprigs.


Pineapple Ginger Passion Smoothie

This multi-purpose, antioxidant-rich smoothie offers a diverse range of flavors and health benefits. Pineapples are combined with ginger, mint and basil for a delicious taste and to promote improved respiratory health and digestion. The smoothie also helps to boost the immune system, strengthen bones and reduce inflammation.



  • 4 cup fresh pineapple chunks
  • 1 cup pineapple Juice chilled
  • 11/2 ounces finely chopped ginger
  • ¼ ounce fresh basil
  • ¼ cup fresh mint





1. Place the first three ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
2. Then, add in the ice cubes and blend on high speed until completely smooth. Or, as I like it, leave the ice somewhat chunky.

Gazpacho Smoothie

The combination of tomatoes, cucumber and peppers makes for a strong dose of Vitamin C and antioxidants – all of which are vital for a strong immune system.

Studies have shown both cucumbers and tomatoes to have cancer-fighting properties, while orange bell peppers contain high amounts of fiber to assist in weight loss and appetite suppression.


  • 2 pounds ripe tomatoes, roughly chopped
  • 1 English cucumber, peeled and roughly chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, peeled and roughly chopped
  • 1 orange bell pepper, seeded and roughly chopped
  • 1 medium shallot, peeled and roughly chopped
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/3 cup good extra-virgin olive oil, plus more for garnishing
  • 2 tablespoons sherry vinegar



1. Add the tomatoes, cucumber, garlic, bell pepper and shallot to a large bowl and toss together with a big pinch of salt and pepper.
2. Add to a blender and blend until smooth (you may have to do this in batches). 
3. Then drizzle in the olive oil and vinegar with the blender running. 
4. Place back in the bowl, cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour for the flavors to develop and for the soup to chill.

The cactus leaf, also known as nopalitos or cactus pads, are world-renowned vegetables heralded for their various health benefits. This delicious vegetable is loaded with Vitamin A, Vitamin C, calcium, potassium, magnesium and iron.

  • 90% nopalitos cactus leaves
  • 5% coconut
  • 5% pineapple
  • Add ginger
